Tony Curtis screen debut came with an uncredited role in the 1949 movie “Criss Cross.” A 1957 breakthrough performance in “Sweet Smell of Success” and a 1958 Oscar nominated role in “The Defiant Ones” solidified Curtis as one of the premier actors of the day. Tony Curtis worked side by side with other legendary actors including Sidney Poitier, Kirk Douglas, Sir Laurence Olivier, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Burt Lancaster.

On September 30, 2010 the world mourned the loss of the iconic film actor. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis had this to say about her father:

“My father leaves behind a legacy of great performances in movies and in his paintings and assemblages. He leaves behind children and their families who loved him and respected him and a wife and in-laws who were devoted to him. He also leaves behind fans all over the world. He will be greatly missed.”

Tony Curtis was a true star in Hollwood’s Golden Age and with over a hundred movie credits and a legacy established in the entertainment world, he is an inspiration that will not be forgotten.
