All April long, Jazz Appreciation month celebrates one of America’s earliest and iconic art forms. During the show’s 23 year run, Jazz performers from across the nation came to The Ed Sullivan Show to not only showcase their talent, but also demonstrate their love for this amazing genre. Some notable performers include Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Harry James, W.C. Handy and many more. These are a handful of some of our many favorite jazz performances!
As we celebrate Jazz Appreciation month, we want to shine light on all of the performers that graced the stage with their wonderful jazz compositions. The Ed Sullivan Show brought jazz music to millions of American television viewers and has been acknowledged for pioneering jazz appearances.
